Wonderland of Himalayas – Family Holidays in Nepal

After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be picked up by an English/Spanish/Chinese-speaking guide for a full-day tour of the Kathmandu Valley, visiting three sacred sites: Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Patan Durbar Square.

This day fits quite a bit in—helpful for maximizing your time in Kathmandu—but doesn’t overload you with too many sites. You can spend as much time as you like at each temple (this is a private tour just for you), although most people tend to spend an hour. For lunch, you’ll stop at one of our recommended local restaurants.

Swayambhunath Stupa
A few miles from the city center on a scenic hill, this is the best place to observe religious harmony between the Nepalese Buddhists and Hindus, as well as the Kathmandu Valley below. The stupa—a dome-shaped Buddhist structure—is one of the most historic shrines in this part of the world. Along with prayer wheels and fine paintings displayed in the monasteries, Swayambhunath also boasts the largest Buddha statue in the country.

Pashupatinath Temple Complex
Located on the bank of the Bagmati river, this is the site of Nepal’s holiest Hindu pilgrimage and has received worshippers for at least 1,500 years. A circuit of the Pashupati area takes visitors past a sixth-century statue of Buddha and an eighth-century statue of Brahma, the Creator. Wander past skeletal images guarding temple gates and other magnificent temples dedicated to various deities in the complex.

Patan Durbar Square
This beautiful archaeological site and monastery holds 14th-century statues and ancient scriptures. While here, you will visit the Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Mahaboudha Temple in Terracotta, and Oku Bahal.

Return to your hotel in Kathmandu in the late afternoon and meet your trekking guide who will go over details for tomorrow’s adventure.

Grab a window seat in your transport—today’s journey is a scenic one through Nepal’s middle hills, down to the Trisuli River, On our way, we drive along the banks of the Trishuli River, past stunning traditional villages, terraced fields. Today we start with rafting which is not too wild, providing a great introduction to the sport with a few fun kicks here and there and you’re sure to get wet as well. (Majhimtar for an 8.5-mile (13.5 km) river rafting trip.

Our Rafting ends along its banks to the village of Kurintar, where traditional village homes line the edges of a flat, fertile expanse of farmland surrounded by forested hills. From here, take an easy 10-minute walk through the River to your overnight Summit River resort; where you’ll find excellent forest views and a cool pool ready for a dip. (Do pack a swimsuit!)

After a late breakfast, you’ll leave the resort behind and travel overland to Bandipur, a historic town near Gorkha that offers excellent views of the Annapurna range, including the eastern high peak, Lamjung Himal.

Conveniently located between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan, Bandipur was once the center for trade between the lowlands and highlands, as well as between British India and independent Tibet. Today, Bandipur remains a popular mountain town to retreat to.

After enjoying the delicious lunch , you’ll leave Bandipur behind and travel overland to Pokhara, one of the enchanting places to view the Phewa Lake and the magnificence of Machhapuchhere (22,890 feet/6,977 meters) rising behind it, creating an ambiance of peace and magic.

After arriving in Pokhara, you’ll check in to your hotel before heading out to explore the lakeside, and finally relaxing over dinner.

Today after early morning breakfast we take a short drive to Lumle. Here, you start our trek to The Netherland Base Camp!

The Netherlands Base Camp or Kalsee Eco Lodge is located on the middle of a hilltop that offers beautiful view of the Annapurna range. The drive is about one hour to Lumle from Pokhara. The trail is q bit steep with the stone staircase for the first one hour. We shall reach our base camp for Lunch.

Driving time: 1 hour
Trekking time: 2.5 hours

After breakfast, you’ll trek up to the village of Pothana and onwards to Deurali through rhododendron and an orchid forest that holds a variety of bird species. From atop the ridge at Deurali, you’ll have great views of the Himalaya, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, the highest mountain in this region.

You’ll have time to enjoy the views and a well-earned rest before you descend through forest to Tolka, a small beautiful Gurung village rich in culture. Lunch will be served en-route. You’ll then proceed on to Beri Kharka and, from here, the trail descends through forest and villages to Landruk. You’ll spend the night in a local teahouse in this large Gurung village, which sits above the Modi River.

Trekking time: 4-6 hours

After breakfast, you’ll descend along gentle paved trails through forest and terraced fields to Kimchi. You’ll follow the ridge downhill to Kehone Danda and on to Kliu, after which you cross a suspension bridge over the Sadhu Khola river, finally reaching Seuli Bazaar.

From there, you’ll follow the Modi Khola as you walk through lovely forests and terraces to Birethanti and on to Nayapul on the Pokhara-Baglung highway. From Nayapul, your vehicle will be waiting for your one-hour drive back to Pokhara.

After checking into your hotel, spend the rest of the day however you choose. You can relax after your trek or explore some of Pokhara’s sites before heading out of dinner in one of the city’s many great restaurants.

Driving time: 1.5 hour

Today, you’ll have a full day in Pokhara to relax or enjoy a variety of activities. You may want to explore the cafés and restaurants, go shopping, or perhaps do something more adventurous like paragliding or mountain biking.

After breakfast, you will head out in your private vehicle to the famous Terai region of Nepal. The landscape and culture are totally different from that which you have experienced so far and from the high, alpine regions of the Himalayan range. The name the ‘Terai’ refers to the extensive plains in the southern part of Nepal — this area is the most northern extension of the great Gangetic plains of India, land that was won and lost in decades of struggle and shares both Indian and Nepali characteristics and culture.

You will drive through narrow winding gorges and deep river valleys past terraced fields tilled by generations of family members; you’ll ultimately reach the vast plains and vibrant jungle of the Chitwan National Park in time for a late lunch. This is a stunning overland journey and you will be able to relax and take in the incredible views of this diverse country from the car.

You’ll arrive in Chitwan in the early afternoon, after which you’ll eat Lunch and check into your resort and meet with a representative to go over the program for your time here.

Driving time: 4-5 hours (91 miles / 147 km)

Today is sure to be memorable, as it’s a full day of safari activities in the Chitwan National Park and you’re guaranteed to see some spectacular wildlife. All wildlife activities are escorted by an experienced naturalist who will tell you everything you want to know about the park and its flora and fauna.

Wildlife that you can see includes the greater one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, hog deer, sambar deer, barking deer, gharial crocodiles and a wide variety of birdlife. With a bit of luck, you may even glimpse a leopard, sloth bear, or Royal Bengal tiger.

After breakfast in Chitwan, you’ll be transferred to Bharatpur airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. In the capital, you’ll be transferred to your hotel and the rest of the day is yours. Explore the city’s streets on foot, bicycle, or rickshaw, perhaps shopping for souvenirs or seeing anything you may have missed at the beginning of your trip.

Your Hotel on the 2nd visit will be in the city center- Lazimpat; close to Thamel In the evening, the tourist hub of Thamel is a good place to grab your first meal, with a variety of restaurants to chose from offering both Western and local Nepali dishes.

After breakfast, you’ll drive about nine miles (14 km) east of Kathmandu City to Bhaktapur —one of Kathmandu Valley’s three cities. This ancient city is also known as Bhadgaun (meaning “the city of devotees”) and is the home of true medieval art and architecture in the valley.

Enjoy lunch and people watch and one of the old squares in Bhaktapur; in the afternoon, take advantage of some free time to relax or explore. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel for the night and Final Farewell Dinner at one of the coolest authentic Nepali Resturant with your Trek Crew Team.

Bhaktapur

Bhaktapur was founded in the 9th century and is shaped like a conch shell. Bhaktapur is the center of traditional Nepalese woodcarving, not only because of its famous carved peacock windows but also because of its museum devoted to the craft. This royal city stands out as a historically authentic, traditional community; it is essentially a living museum where farmers dry their harvest, potters turn their wheel and people go about their lives as they’ve done for centuries.

Driving time: 1.5 hours (round-trip)

Today after the hotel breakfast, we can sit back and spend the morning leisurely; perhaps catch up on some last minutes shopping. Later on, we will transfer you to airport in time for your flight home .
