Towards the North west of this region is the first ridge of the himalaya is a high desert region, similar to the Tibetan plateau. This area encompasses the arid valleys of upper Mugu, Dolpo and Limi- Humla as well as the Tibetan marginal, a smaller range of peaks averaging less than 6000 m. The moisture-laden rains of the monsoon drop all their rain on the south side of the mountains, leaving the Trans-Himalaya of karnali in permanent rain shadow, providing great options to trek during monsoon season This region also offers the best off the beaten treks in Nepal Himalayas.
