Trip Overview
The Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek offers one of the most spectacular trekking experiences in Nepal, taking you through serene landscapes, traditional villages, and sacred sites. Located just north of Kathmandu Valley, Gosainkunda Lake is a revered religious destination for Hindus and Buddhists, sitting at an altitude of 4312 meters. Surrounded by towering peaks, this lake is not only a place of pilgrimage but also a picturesque natural wonder.
Post-Earthquake Recovery and New Discoveries
Following the 2015 earthquake, the Langtang and Helambu regions have fully recovered, with trekking lodges rebuilt and the valleys looking as stunning as ever. The region has become even more accessible with the opening of a new border with Tibet at Rasuwagadhi, enriching your trekking experience. By visiting, you’ll also support the local Sherpa, Tamang, and Hyolmo villages, helping to revitalize the local economy.
The Trek – 14 Days of Adventure and Spirituality
This 14-day trek begins at Syabru Besi, located 90 km from Kathmandu. The route follows the Bhote Kosi River, gradually ascending through lush flower-filled meadows and dense forests of the Langtang Valley, before reaching the alpine meadows and yak pastures near Kyangjin Gompa. Here, you have the opportunity to ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m), which offers 360-degree panoramic views of some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas.
From Kyangjin, you’ll continue your journey to the sacred Gosainkunda Lake at 4336 meters, which is surrounded by an awe-inspiring mountain backdrop. Finally, you’ll make your way back to Kathmandu via Melamchi, completing a trek filled with spiritual significance, cultural richness, and unforgettable natural beauty.
