Responsible Treks Himalaya: Nepal, Annapurna, Tibet, Everest, Bhutan. A 30 Day Pilgrimage that is Adventurous, Safe, Rewarding and Refreshing.
Responsible Treks in Kathmandu, Nepal prepared a 30 day adventure that included cultural awareness and trekking across the Himalayas for me in December 2011. The program was broken into three core phases: conditioning in the Himalayas in Nepal, high altitude and high impact experience in Tibet and Everest, and exploration of the world's last Shangri La in the Sacred Kingdom of Bhutan.
In the first phase, I started by meeting my local driver and guide and learning about the main roads to the premier mountain town of Pokhara from Kathmandu, Nepal. I completed rafting and spent several days hiking in Annapurna followed by safari in Chitwan. The entire experience was full of adventure and conditioning. The second phase, I flew across the Himalaya from Kathmandu, Nepal to Lhasa, Tibet. There, I acclimated to the temperatures and made pilgrimage with Tibetans throughout the high plains until I reached Mount Everest basecamp and Rongbuk monastery. Finally, I had a couple of days rest in Kathamandu before taking a Druk Air flight over the world's 7 largest peaks and landing in the Sacred Kingdom of Bhutan. There, I hiked to Tiger's Nest (a cliff hanging monastery) and spent several days meeting with locals in medieval farm houses and local hotels. I learned all about about the world's last medieval kingdom. All three phases with Responsible Treks included first class guides, automobiles and drivers.
The entire trip, including my gear, medical, flights, visas, guides, drivers, rentals, 4 star hotels and food was USD $10,000. This is a once in a lifetime experience that I would recommend to anyone wanting to learn a little more about themselves and the world inside the Himalayas. Responsible Treks provides an end-to-end experience for the pilgrim and the adventure capitalist.
