Gokyo - EBC - Kala Pathar and Island Peak Summit
Our goals are first the lakes of Gokyo, and then into the Khumbu Valley we head to the South Base Camp of Everest. Crossing the spectacular Cho La (5420m 17,782ft) into the Khumbu is an adventure in itself. We then retreat to the hilltop viewpoint of Kala Patthar for the best view of Everest. We will take a closer look at the spectacular Khumbu icefall (the climbing route to the South Col) the route taken on the first ascent in 1953. Further! This is an excellent opportunity to ascend a Himalayan summit Located on top of the Chukung glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Mountains, Island Peak, at 6173m, is a popular destination for trekkers ready for a challenge. As Island Peak is technically straightforward, knowledge of snow and ice climbing is not essential and any physically fit & acclimatized person is well qualified to make the ascent. You will be provided with an orientation and demonstration of ice climbing by our Sherpa Guide on the mountain, which will be enough for you to safely undertake a summit bid. This trek gives you the opportunity to experience the major highlights of the Everest region, including stunning Kala Pattar, Everest Base Camp, the amazing culture of Sherpa villages and awe inspiring Buddhist Monasteries along with a wonderful experience of climbing a peak on the roof of the world after a full fledge acclimatization program. The best time for this trip is in spring, from March to May and in the clear, crisp days of autumn, from September to December.
