With his cross-cultural & International management experience Chhewang is the driving force behind the Responsible Treks initiative. Chhewang originated from the remote Nyinba Valley, located in Humla, West Nepal where the people are of Tibetan origin. Chhewang believes this rich cultural heritage is what links him with his passion for the mountains. As a young man Chhewang studied hard knowing that the future would take him much further than his small mountain town. After grade 3 he moved to Kathmandu for further studies and then gained his degree in business from a top Indian college. Chhewang has worked in the tourism industry for over 10 years & is now the founder of Responsible Treks. To this day Chhewang remains inspired by the magic of the mountains and its people. He is passionate about both his work & sharing the amazing experiences of Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim& Bhutan with others. Chhewang believes that in addition to his extensive trek-leading and operating experience, it is his close relationship and commitment to the many indigenous communities that gives Responsible Treks its unique signature.
